The JJCrochet Story

jjcrochettimeline
JJCrochet offers quality one-of-a-kind, hand-crocheted hats, crochet headbands, and crochet patterns (with some knit patterns too!) for men, women, and children. Since its inception 6 years ago, JJCrochet has sold products to people in 49 states (every one except West Virginia) and over 12 different countries from Germany and the Netherlands to Scotland, Australia, South Korea, even Malaysia.

JJCrochet has participated in over 15 craft shows and attends 3-4 shows each fall.

But how did it all begin?

The summer before her freshman year of high school Jayna  underwent scoliosis surgery. Bedridden with nothing to do but recover, she spent the majority of that summer crocheting. She ended up with so many hats that she jokingly told her mom that since her friends didn’t want any more crocheted things, she should sell her hats.

Jayna’s mom, however, was a not a woman to be joked with.  The following day, she showed up with $200 worth of yarn “just to get her started”.  Jayna’s dad was also supportive of his favorite daughter’s entrepreneurial endeavors.  For her 14th birthday, he bought her a website domain to sell her crocheted hats. JJCrochet was founded in the summer of 2003 and has been growing every since.

In December 2005, JJCrochet took a brief hiatus from this domain and focused on growing JJCrochet’s Etsy Store to create a larger online presence.  With over 500 items sold on Etsy, JJCrochet continues to expand.

In June 2009 (and with the help of Blake Imeson), JJCrochet.com was resurrected with a fresh look and new purpose.
