You are both very welcome! I'm new to posting on Ravelry, and I am finding everyone's specific details very helpful when trying to figure out a new pattern. So I thought I should post my specific details as well. I posted the pics of my completed hat on Ravelry if you want to check them out. My name is MonicaB1979.

Thanks again for coming up with this Jayna!

Hi Marge! I'm so glad you got to try out the pattern and doubling the yarn and using smaller needles sounds like it would knit just as good of a hat without having to buy new yearn - very creative of you. Hope things are going well with you - I'm anxiously awaiting your original patterns. :)

Hi Jayna
This is a great hat, and I am also making it right now in the round, following the instructions from Monica (thanks to Monica for figuring that out!) I actually already knitted this in the round the first time without the revised part from Monica and came out with a completely new and different pattern that looked really cool. It came out like a kind of twisted ribbing pattern. I madeit for my daughter and its very cute on her. Anyways, great hat, and thanks for the pattern!!

Hi Jayna,
After the knitting group the other night I looked up the pattern and made it over the weekend. Love the pattern. Didn't have any Thick & Quick and to avoid going to the knitting store again I doubled the stitch count and used #8 needles and made a hat with what I had available. You are so talented in looking at something and coming up with patterns. Keep up the good work and have a good semester.

Im not an expert knitter, but me and my friend cracked the "in the round" code.

Cast on 48
do 4x4 as instructed.
Now here is where it gets tricky:
Mark your first stitch with a marker and k2 p2 around. (ending in p2)
Start next row (in the round means next stitch) p1, k2, p2 around till last stitch, and then p1. and then repeat. next row would start with K2.

This is how i wrote it down to help me:
k k p p k k p p
p k k p p k k p
k k p p k k p p
p k k p p k k p
you can see how the K's and p's line up, and the other verticals are every other as the should be.

You just need to know when you are going to have 3 purls next to each other, or just 1 purl.

Well...I tried in the round, and the instructions above do not work. Usually when you are in the round, the next row needs to be reversed. If anyone figures this one out let me know, because right now my brain isnt figuring it out!

Hi Bri! Since I'm a fairly new knitter as well, I don't know much about knitting in the round, but I will try to help. I image it's definitely possible to use circular needles for the hat, I'm just not sure I'd know the best way to do it. Perhaps someone who has a little more knitting experience could help...
If I had to *guess* how to knit this in the round (and I think this makes sense), this is what I'd say: The 4x4 ribbing would still be the same. To begin the mistake ribbing portion of that hat, I would p2tog at the end of the round when your ribbing measures 2 inches. This will give you an odd number of stitches to work the hat body. Then, you'd just *k2,p2* around for every round. With the odd number of stitches, you'll still achieve the same "shift" you would get knitting the mistake rib on on straight needles, but because you have an odd number of stitches, instead of knitting a perfectly aligned 2x2 ribbing, you'll knit a mistake ribbing pattern. Did that make sense at all? Ha, I may have made it more confusing. Let me know if that works out for you. Happy knitting!

Thank you,
